Brian Wilson
Name: Brian Douglas Wilson.Born on June 20,1942.
Life in the 60's : He is said to have spent less happy life. His father Murry was a child abuser and he abused Brian physically and mentally. Brian had a hearing problem in his right ear-only six percent audibility compared to left ear .This problem caused Brian to use only left ear for recording,mixing musical tracks.So most of the Beach Boys tracks were mixed in mono due to such reason despite other bands like the Beatles made most of the stereophonic sound technology.Some sources say his disability originated in his father's punishment,others say it is inborn problem.
This environment gave him a refuge into music.Actually he ran away from his daddy's punishment and shut himself in the music room
Although he was a typical teenager but music played a subtle role in his mind.He needed love from others,father,family and tried to express this feeling by songs like"I Just Wasn't Made For These Time""In The Back Of My Mind""That's Not Me".He was at the height of popularity and creativity in the middle 60's.Many people, musicians, journalists, photographers, guests like Beatles,pre-flyte Birds,visited his home studio for sessions and dinner or lunch.They gave him many inspirations and drugs,which later brought great harm on his life. As a musician : A bass player,lead vocal/chorus(falsetto),a leader /producer/arranger of the group(until circa mid-60's)

Musical collaborators during the 60's:

• Gary Usher
  Brian has learned much about music from him before debut.Their partnership resulted in many surfin'/hot rod songs.Gary opened Brian's eye into songwriting.
• Bob Norberg
  Although their partnership lasted too short,Bob told Brian how to record,to be independent of his father.
• Roger Christian
  Roger contributed many lyrics for Brian.His lyrics illustrated the sound by Brain fairly.
• Mid 60's collbolators
  Around the mid 60's Brian's music,queer use of instruments,chord progression,exceeded any other songwriters except Lennon/MCartney.So he needed the lyrics enhancing his inner self.
  • Tony Asher
    He wrote most of the lyrics in "Pet Sounds" in which he described the feelings like isolation from the society.
  • Van Dyke Parks
    Van Dyke was also a musical partner during "SMILE"sessions.But his talent was ahead of the times.He could not tide over the struggle within the beach Boys and the sessions flopped.
• Late 60's on.......
  After the cancellation of the "SMILE" Brian was mentally weaken and indulged himself in lots of drugs.And he rarely performed and composed as he used to do.

Dennis Wilson
Name:Dennis Carl Wilson.Born on December 4,1944
Life in the 60's:He spent ordinary childhood(often called "Dennis The Menace" except his daddy's abuse.His musical contributions for the group came forth since late 60's ,but he played a great r ole in the birth of the group itself.Without Dennis's instigation that they shoul sing about surfin',they would end in less known white doo-wap group who might be featured in Goldmine magazine.He started writing and producing his own songs since late 60's when he was ascociated with notorious Charles Manson by chance.
As a musician:Drummer(In the studio he was often replaced by Hal Blaine)
Late 60's on....:His life filled with alchol,drugs,girls,could never lasted too long,he died of drowning in the sea in 1983.

Carl Wilson
Name:Carl Dean Wilson.Born on December 21,1946.
Life in the 60's:Carl was loyal to Brianat the same time he was loyal to R&B and rock'n roll sound.His guitar play was a key to the success in the early-to -mid 60's and a life saver to the group in order to tide over the late 60's whirlwind.A meek,"Born thirty" carl used to revelled against the state.Carl defied the draft.
As a musician:Guitarist/lead vocal
Late 60's on......:In the place of Brian,Carl have composed,arranged,produced many tracks.O ne of the well acclaimed classic is "I Can Hear Music"

Bruce Johnston
Name:Billy Baldwin.Born on January 8 1946.
Life in the 60's:High school days Bruce was in the band with Phil Spector.Before being invited to the Beach Boys,he was a staff producer/arranger/singer at Columbia records where he cut many Beach Boys -sound alike anonymous garage bands like Bruce and Terry.
As a musician:Keyboard/guitar/bass
Late 60's on.....: Outside the Beach Boys,he handled many musical units like Sagitarias,California Music.He left the group in the early 70's ,but soon rejoined .

Mike LoveName:Michael Edward Love.Born on March 15,1941.
Life in the 60's:Before joining the Beach Biys,Mike was already in the oil business and got married.So he wanted to suceed in music industry with his management skill. Though his way of money oriente d management policy stood in the way of Brian's artistic one,his presence was preciouis.On stage Mike supervised,communicated with the band,audience.He was the only person to handle with things outside the group.
As a musician:Lead vocal/sax
Late 60's on.. ..:Mike was addicted to the Indian guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's religious organization Transcendal Meditation.Recently he won the lawsuit with Brian over the loyality of the song written by them.

Alan Jardine
Alan Charles Jardine.Born on September 3,1942.
Life in the 60's:If Al was not a student of El Camino high,his life would have been a different one.Brian ran into him in the campus and they wanted to form a group.Al was looking for a publisher to record his singing .The song he wanted to record was "Sloop John B.",which was later recorded by the Beach Boys.His dream came true by dint of Brian's daddy Murry's connection in the music industry.That recording session was a catalyst of the birth of t he Beach Boys.
As a musician:Guitarist/lead vocal
Late 60's on......:His musical background was folk song,but it was not enhanced in the early days of the Beach Boys.His taste set force since mid 60's.

Who's Who?
Phil Spector : A legendary producer in the 60's who created the "wall of sound" and his own label Philles Record featuring Ronnets,Crystals,Bob B.Sox & Blue Jeans.His sound and style produced many followers.(Brian was one of them)

Gary Usher : Gary Usher is an unsung hero in the history of the west coast music.His house stood near the Wilson's house.He knew the boys next door were local hero.In fact Gary's career in the music business predated the Beach Boys.He had already re leased singles from minor label.So he aproached the boys,and the rest is history,gary had produced,arranged,collaborated with many artists like,The Birds,Chad&Jeremy,Peanut Butter Conspiracy,Curt Boetcher,Sagittarius,and lots of unknown bands with alias.
